About Us

Wyoming Child & Family Development (WCFD) Laramie County Head Start is excited to announce the expansion of program options and hours available to families and children who are in need of an early childhood program/preschool opportunity. Full school day Head Start preschool classrooms follow a traditional school year calendar. Early Head Start provides 9 hour per day full year services for children 6 week to 3 years old.  WCFD has offered Head Start services in Wyoming since 1965. Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood program that focuses on the whole child and family. Well-rounded supports include early learning, health, nutrition, safety, mental health, and family well-being – all in an effort to build positive relationships within families and to prepare children to succeed in school and in the life beyond school.  One of the exceptional features about Head Start is the value on parent participation and leadership. Parents have a crucial role in the development of the program and services available to all enrolled children and their families. Head Start emphasizes the importance of encouraging parents in the education of their children, which begins with solid relationships, routines, play and learning at home. This foundation and relationships is what sets children up for success when entering Kindergarten and throughout life.  WCFD practices safety measures to keep all children, families and staff healthy and able to attend school. ActivePure® Technology, available in all WCFD site locations, is used to continuously clean and protect air surfaces 24 hours/day. ActivePure® is the only air cleaning technology awarded the prestigious Certified Space Technology seal by the Space Foundation. Along with surface and air purification, WCFD utilizes high-level sanitation and safety protocols to prioritize keeping all children and adults safe and healthy.  Laramie County Head Start is currently enrolling for the next program year, which begins Tuesday, August 31st. Head Start is an income-eligible program, however all families are welcome and encouraged to apply. Spanish-speaking services are also available.
