About Us
Hughes is committed to making a positive difference in each of our members financial life. We take our members further by offering an exceptional service experience, which includes low cost products and services, such as one low rate on loans, higher dividends on savings, convenient online and mobile services, and more. Let Hughes take you further on your life’s journey by helping you reach all of your financial goals.
Hughes Federal Credit Union was formed in 1952 in Tucson, Arizona to serve the financial needs of Hughes Aircraft Company (now Raytheon Missiles & Defense) employees and their families.
In 1992, we merged with Arizona Transportation Credit Union, which served Union Pacific Railroad employees and more than 400 other select employee groups in Phoenix and Tucson.
In 2001, the National Credit Union Administration approved Hughes Federal Credit Union to serve the underserved community in Tucson providing membership eligibility to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Tucson.
In 2020, we merged with APC Employees Federal Credit Union, which served Arizona Portland Cement and Cal Portland employees and their families in Arizona.
Today, Hughes Federal Credit Union serves more than 183,000 members and has more than $2.3 billion in assets.
Committed to the National Credit Union philosophy of “People Helping People” and “Not for Profit, Not for Charity, But for Service,” Hughes always strives to connect the right products and services to each member, focusing on their best interest not ours.
Credit unions are different than banks – we exist to serve our members. Instead of paying stockholders, we return our profits to members through higher savings rates, lower loan rates, interest-earning checking, and fewer and lower fees.
